Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology

Mission
The Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology, Inc. (APIC) is a multi-disciplinary, voluntary, international organization. APIC promotes wellness and prevents illness and infection world-wide by advancing health care epidemiology through education, collaboration, research, practice, and credentialing.

Board of Directors and Program Leaders
The officers of APIC are a President, President-elect, Secretary, and Treasurer. All officers are elected by the membership. The President-elect is elected annually and serves a term of one year, after which the President-elect succeeds to the office of President for a term of one year. The Secretary serves a term of two years and is elected  in odd-numbered years. The Treasurer also serves a term of two years but is elected in even-numbered years.

APIC is governed by a Board of Directors composed of the four officers, the immediate Past-President, and nine Directors. All Directors are elected by the membership for terms of two years.

The ex-officio members of the APIC Board of Directors include the APIC Executive Director, Legal Counsel, and Auditor.

Program Leaders are appointed by the Board of Directors on a year-by-year basis.    Members are encouraged to volunteer for committee appointments by completing a  Willingness to Serve form and submitting it to the APIC national office.
