Page 7 The members of the UNC School of Nursing Alumni Association Board are pleased to announce that Carolyn Williams, PhD, RN, FAAN is the recipient of the 2000 Alumna of the Year Award. A 1965 graduate of the SON, Carolyn holds three degrees from Carolina—a combined MSN-MPH and a PhD in epidemiology. Currently, she serves as dean of the University of Kentucky’s College of Nursing.

Carolyn Williams is a professor and dean emerita of the College of Nursing. Prior to appointment to the faculty here, she held several positions including associate professor of epidemiology in the School of Public Health and associate professor of nursing in the School of Nursing at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill; and professor and director of the graduate program and research at the Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing, Emory University.
- Carolyn Williams Inducted Into UK College of Public Health Hall of Fame
University of Kentucky College of Nursing, 10/28/2014 – The UK College of Public Health inducted two new members into its Hall of Fame during the 11th Annual Hall of Fame celebration in October 2014. The Hall of Fame was established in 2004 as a means of formally recognizing individuals who have made exceptional contributions to the health and welfare of the citizens of the Commonwealth, the nation, or the world. The 2014 inductees into the Hall of Fame are Dr. Samuel Matheny and Dr. Carolyn Williams, who have both demonstrated such achievement and commitment.

Univ of Kentucky College of Nursing, August 15, 2017 Carolyn Williams, PhD, RN, FAAN, dean emeritus of the UK College of Nursing and former president of the American Academy of Nursing, was one of five nurse leaders to receive the Academy's designation of Living Legend, the organization's highest honor, at a special ceremony during the policy conference in Washington, D.C. on October 5, 2017.
