Walking in the shoes of tradition: The predictable erasure of Nikole Hannah-Jones, by Danita Mson-Hogans.
Danita Mason-Hogans is a seventh generation Chapel Hillian who can trace her ancestors back to slavery here. She is projects manger for critical oral histories at Duke’s Center for Documentary Studies; co-host of the first season of the “Re/Collecting Chapel Hill” podcast series; an organizer of the Town of Chapel Hill’s Historic Civil Rights Commemorations Task Force and the “I Was Still Singing” exhibit; and a member of UNC’s Commission on History, Race, and a Way Forward. She has also been advocating and organizing for a Pre-K-to-college education program for local descendants of enslaved people … look out for more information on that in the near future.
