27th Annual Minority Health ConferenceCommunity-Based Research and Practice:
|
OverviewIn order to create better health outcomes it is essential to have community participation to impact the public's health. The composition of communities has changed vastly in the last 30 years and researchers and communities have to both learn how to strengthen their relationships with one another. As communities change, there is a need to adapt to the communities' cultural norms and values. As researchers and communities continue to work together there is a greater need to increase the community buy-in and ownership of research. In addition communities should be able to use the data gathered so that they can develop their own community driven solutions. This conference hopes to create a dialogue about the success and challenges of researchers and community participants working together. |
