Anna Kade Schoenbach is a freelance science and medical writer and editor who resides, with her two cats, in Rockville, Maryland. In 2017, she received her Master's of Arts in Science Writing from Johns Hopkins University. From 2018-2024 she wrote the weekly newsletter for a patient-focused website called the Lupus Corner, which was voted the best lupus blog of the year from 2019 to 2021. She participated in the Pact Press Nonfiction Anthology, Howling Up to the Sky, with her article titled “Not Just Pills for Pills” about using medications that block opioid addiction.
During her undergraduate years at Mount Holyoke College, while working as a research assistant in a lab, she realized that what was most fulfilling to her was explaining the wonders of science to others. She is currently assisting various clients with science-based and other non-fiction writing projects. Anna always aims to go beyond the raw, obvious facts to explain the concepts behind them.
Anna is also a poet and a creative writer. Her short fiction has been published by Red Cape Publishing, Deadman's Tome, and Aphotic Realm. In 2021, she published a collection of nature-themed poems under the title Looking Through the Wood Knot Hole. In 2022, she published a set of four books of poems based on the planets, moons, asteroids, and comets found in our solar system, titled Shattered Stars and Broken Stones, Souvenirs of Ice and Dust, Under a Pulsating Sky, and Burning Cold in the Quiet Night. These poems were recently compiled into a single volume, Our Solar Neighborhood. Her other poems have been published in the Primal Elements anthology by OWS Ink, and on the Coffin Bell and Nine Muses website.
