Club member Victoria Gaither loses three members of extended family to COVID19National Press Club member Victoria Gaither, freelance broadcaster and photo journalist, returned to her hometown of Washington, D.C., after five years in New Zealand, just as the novel coronavirus began its peak assault on the city. Among its earliest victims were three members of Gaither's extended family (the Leake family), a fixture on Alabama Avenue in the Southeast quadrant of the city where Gaither grew up. May 8, 2020
Te Awahou Nieuwe Stroom hosts exploration of slavery Award-winning American broadcast journalist Victoria Gaither will bring a fresh perspective to slavery in America, in "Slavery in America: Past, Present and Politics", an interactive seminar to be held at Te Awahou Nieuwe Stroom on Saturday 5 May 2018. Ms. Gaither will share images, stories and documents of her own family's history, together with insights into how and why slavery in America happened and the role it plays today.
Victoria Gaither Presentation African American Journalist, Victoria Gaither, from International Connection Radio joins Te Takeretanga o Kura-hau-po for Family Heritage Month. Victoria will discuss how African American families like her’s in America try to piece together a broken family history as a result of slavery.
