The ACEEIC was originally created in 1991 by American College of Epidemiology President Raymond S. Greenberg as an
ad hoc committee of the College. Its original name was the Committee on
Minority Affairs, which several years later was changed to the Minority Affairs Committee (ACEMAC). The committee held its first meeting at the College's Annual Scientific Meeting in September 1991 in Atlanta. Bill Jenkins, who founded SAAPHI that same week in Atlanta was a founding member of both (for more about Bill, see

Following the 2024 ACE annual scientific meeting, the committee renamed itself the
Equity and Inclusion Committee.

Since early in the 21st century, the ACEEIC has held a free workshop on the Saturday before the College’s annual scientific meeting. The workshops were initiated by Vickie Mays (
