  This newsletter, currently on Substack and received by hundreds of thousands of readers, grew from a daily Facebook post by epidemiology faculty member Katelyn Jetelina during the Covid-19 pandemic. Dr. Jetelina has received numerous awards for her communications work and is now also the lead editor of the Epidemiology Monitor

  The Epidemiology Monitor was Founded in 1980 by Roger H. Bernier, PhD, MPH, who served as Editor and Publisher for 40 years while working at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. In 2022, EpiMonitor was acquired by Katelyn Jetelina, MPH, PhD.

  Holden Thorp, former UNC Chancellor, is Editor-in-Chief of the Science family of journals, where he writes an editorial roughly every other week and has an editor's blog (reposted on Substack).
