Table 1 Combined table of face masks investigated by Fischer et al.

This table combines information in Table 1 and Figures 1, 3a, and S3 of the article by Emma Fischer et al., Low-cost measurement of facemask efficacy for filtering expelled droplets during speech. Science Advances 07 August 2020. DOI: 10.1126/sciadv.abd3083.

Table 1 in the article lists the investigated face masks, mask alternatives, and mask material (masks are depicted in Fig. 1). Masks marked with an asterisk (*) were tested by four speakers, all others by one speaker.

Approximate relative droplet counts were read from Figure 3a. Approximate total droplet counts were read from Figure S3 in the supplemental online materials. Figure S3, "Time evolution of droplet rate and total droplet count for one speaker" is well worth examining.

The table shows the ratings as relative droplet counts compared to no facial covering (from Fig. 3a), with (in parentheses) Victor Schoenbach's interpretation of % efficacy compared to no facial covering, and Total droplet counts from Fig. S3. Masks are listed in order of declining efficacy.
