Professional societies and Newsletters
Some of the major professional societies in epidemiology and public health are:
American College of Epidemiology (ACE) (sponsors the Annals of Epidemiology)
Association of Schools of Public Health (ASPH) is an organization of schools, rather than of individuals. ASPH has information on degree programs, accreditation, fellowships, internships, jobs, and statistics on applicants, students and graduates of schools of public health
Associazione Italiana di Epidemiologia (sponsors the journal Epidemiologia e Prevenzione)
Australian Epidemiological Association (email@example.com)
European Public Health Association (School of Public Health, Maliebaan 94, 3581 CX Utrecht, Netherlands, tel. 31 30364388, telefax: 31 30334184)
International Epidemiological Association (IEA) (sponsors the International Journal of Epidemiology)
International Society for Environmental Epidemiology (ISEE) (sponsors the journal Epidemiology)
International Society for Pharmacoepidemiology (ISPE) (sponsors the journal Pharmacoepidemiology and Drug Safety)
Society for Epidemiologic Research (SER) (sponsors the American Journal of Epidemiology) – SER is committed to the development and application of epidemiologic methods
Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America (SHEA) (sponsors Infection Control and Hospital Epidemiology)
Most of the above organizations publish newsletters for their members.
A unique sources of news for epidemiologists is the Epidemiology Monitor, a monthly newsletter with news items, book reviews, announcements, features, job ads, and a list of open positions for epidemiologists, including postdoctoral fellows. The Monitor has published a comprehensive guide to resources in epidemiology, EPISOURCE. This 1,000+ page guide lists over 900 products and services that epidemiologists might need and has other valuable reference information (for example, a list of all epidemiology degree-granting institutions).
