46th Annual Minority Health Conference

                            CALL FOR POSTER ABSTRACTS

The Minority Student Caucus at the University of North Carolina Gillings School of Global Public Health invites you to share your work at the 46th Annual Minority Health Conference, to be held February 28, 2025.

THE CONFERENCE: As the largest and longest running student-led health conference in the nation, the Minority Health Conference aims to raise awareness about health disparities and mobilize students, academics, and community members to take action for change. Since its inception under UNC’s Minority Student Caucus in the late 1970s, the Minority Health Conference has grown significantly, attracting over 600 attendees, plus nearly a thousand more via webcast. The theme of this year’s conference is Bridging the Digital Divide: Leveraging Technology and Data for Health Equity.

This year’s theme focuses on the transformative potential of technology and data in addressing health disparities. While technological innovations hold great promise for improving access to care, they often risk amplifying inequities when not designed with marginalized communities in mind. Our theme emphasizes that equity must be the driving force behind these advancements. We hope to highlight innovators and researchers that are intentionally inclusive in the way they design public health interventions and solutions.

This year’s conference will examine digital access as a “super determinant” of health outcomes, highlighting strategies to bridge the digital divide and ensure that all communities can benefit from advancements in public health. We hope that this theme inspires actionable strategies towards leveraging technology and data to drive health equity, ensuring that no community is left behind in the pursuit of better health outcomes.

THE PROPOSALS: We are looking for poster presenters who center the experiences of people of color and intersecting marginalized identities to demonstrate a clear commitment to equity, advocacy, and community engagement. Proposals to share research, practice, programs, processes, and stories are encouraged. Submissions are welcome from researchers, practitioners, community members, community organizations, and students from a variety of fields (including behavioral science, basic and clinical sciences, public health, biostatistics, policy/government, social work, history, journalism, and others)

POSTER PRESENTATION: We welcome abstracts in both traditional research and non-traditional practice, programs, and processes. We encourage submissions from researchers, practitioners, community members, community organizations, and students from a variety of fields. Poster presenters will be asked to print and bring a 45x65 (landscape) poster depicting their work that will be displayed during the conference. Presenters will have the opportunity to engage with attendees during a dedicated poster session to share their work and field questions.

Submission deadline: December 16, 2024
