“I’ve only been able to “attend” the webcast of these lectures.
Yet, every year the UNC School of Public Health Minority Health Conference
webcast and its associated website have been among the most informative and
useful events/resources I access during the year.” (Alice Furumoto-Dawson, Jan 2006)

Conference Overview
June 2006 marked the 25th year of the fight against HIV/AIDS. This conference will be devoted to research, education, and activism on behalf of minority communities. Consistent with the international agenda, “Time to Deliver”, our theme refle
cts the need that still exists in many communities in the U.S. - the need for education, health care access, financial support, compassion, and healing. As HIV rates continue to rise disproportionately in minority communities, it is clear that after 25
years AIDS remains one of the most critical public health issues of our time. The conference will feature speakers and presenters who are devoted to HIV/AIDS work and who can provide insights about future directions - and will serve as a call to action
for professionals, academics, community organizations, and individuals.
