Attendees introduced themselves Dean Roper is now available to give the SPH opening remarks during the conference. Dr. Ervin has agreed to give remarks on behalf of the University during the conference. All conference attendees including committee members should register for the conference. |

Shelley Francis shared highlights from 1/23/02 meeting. Kacey was unable to attend the meeting but will follow up at next meeting. Aviva read update from Kacey. The committee has sent conference information to WRAL, UNC TV, and several local radio stations and newspapers. The puzzle pieces are almost completely updated Aviva has sent out email re: the conference to the whole university. Barbara will need an internal list of committee members whose conference registration fee will be waived. Transparencies advertising the conference will be available for students to display in class. Vic was unable to attend this meeting and will update the committee at a later date. Panelists for the funding session have been confirmed. R. Davis will send out confirmations. Information regarding the funding session will be placed on the web. There was a suggestion to pair speakers with individuals which we will explore further. Asian Health session speakers confirmed. Native American session has two speakers and The Education session has one speaker left to be confirmed. Maggie Hicken is working on confirming an additional speaker for the Native American session Abstracts are coming in from diverse people…. faculty, CBOs, students. Seronda will follow up with committee on the number of posters submitted. Kyna reported 11 exhibitors have been confirmed. They may also submit an abstract. MCH Department donated $100. IPRC is willing to be a cosponsor of the conference. A donation letter has been forwarded to Wanda Hunter, IPRC. No report A. Shields reported that there has been a request by faculty and the Dean to broadcast the keynote in Rosenau or at another location. January 30, 2002 location to be announced. |
Publicity efforts ongoing. Email will be sent out by webmasters. Maceo forwarded information to Barbara. In development Speaker committee is finalizing speakers and program. Lisa Pullen is following up with Dr. Hatch as a potential speaker. Committee is still working on getting additional abstracts. Several MCH committee members will submit abstracts. Kyna needs volunteers to follow up with potential exhibitors. S. Francis will follow up with Ms. Hunter regarding funding. The committee agreed to broadcast the keynote only for faculty. |
