K. Hansen will be the contact person for MHC publicity cards V. Schoenbach requested that the satellite broadcast be added to the agenda S. Francis read corrections to the minutes that were shared by B. Holt. S. Francis reported that contacts are being identified for second wave of calls. Discussion held on conference registration fees. Registration fee for all students will be $15, several person suggested raising fees to off set conference costs. UNC Faculty & staff fee raised to $40, Working professionals fee set to $60. This year exhibitors will be charged. $100 for non-profits and $400 for profit organizations. Minority Health Conference committee voted and accepted new fees. M. Thomas reported on the budget and fundraising committee efforts. Follow up calls are being made. Additional contacts are accepted. Letter detailing different levels of giving is completed. B. Chavious suggested the Turning Point Initiative is a good source for funding. Fund projects relating to reducing racial disparities November 21st is target date for draft of conference brochure, new fees will be included V. Schoenbach will forward MHC information to over 6,000 persons on his distribution list MHC committee plans to tape the keynote speech and do a playback at 2pm in SPH during the conference. Dr. James will respond to questions V. Schoenbach suggested in the introduction to do a brief overview of the Minority Student Caucus and the conference. A moderator is also needed for this session. Last year over 60 sites viewed the broadcast K. McCullough reported program date is February 28, 2002. Information will be posted on the website. V. Schoenbach suggested having a diversity link on the SPH homepage that would link directly to REACH info, MHC info, Caucus info. Etc. S. Francis gave the speaker committee report. Seven sessions are completed. Several session are partially complete and three sessions are incomplete. A draft letter needs to be completed for exhibitors. Poster committee and exhibitor committee has met. Prices for exhibitors set and voted on by MHC committeee. V. Schoenbach will investigate the ability to submit the poster abstracts online but for now submissions can be emailed. None November 28, 2001 @4pm Happy Thanksgiving! |
