Asking questions in
EPID600
We welcome your questions
by email (usually best) to Vic or Lorraine, in class,
or by telephone [you can find contact information at the bottom of the course
home page, Vic’s home page,
or the UNC-CH online Directory].
Since we receive LOTS of email, and there are many more of you than there are of us, we suggest the following for greater efficiency:
- copy your teaching assistant on the message, since (s)he may be able to respond before we can (if you are writing to your TA and wish to copy one of us, please begin your message with your TA’s name so we’ll know for whom your message is primarily intended).
- begin the Subject line of your email with “EPID600” so it’s easier to spot amongst the crowd of messages and spam.
- include your first and last name in the message unless they are obvious from your email address - sometimes a first name and email address are not enough for us to know who you are or which course or group you are in (we have over 200 students some semesters)
- include enough background with your question so that we can understand it without having to ask follow-ups. Since students sometimes work on case studies before or after their scheduled weeks, we may not know which module “question 4” refers to.
- indicate if you do not wish us to share your question with the class, since we sometimes send out questions-and-answers to the entire class (please also indicate if you would like us to omit your name should we disseminate the question).
